Jennifer Aghavian ’20 Thanks Donors for Scholarship Assistance

Jennifer Aghavian

Jennifer Aghavian ’20 is immensely grateful to the Queens College donors who provide scholarship assistance—which enabled her to do an internship in her field of psychology rather than having to get a job to help pay her way.

“If not for these scholarships, I would have had to find a job unrelated to my field of study to be able to pay tuition and other related costs because finding paid work in psychology as an undergraduate is quite difficult,” she says. “I have immense appreciation for the generous donors who believe in the students at Queens College.”

Both of Jennifer’s two older siblings attended Queens College and always expressed gratitude for the education and guidance they received there. “Queens College is an institution that provides quality education for a price that most other colleges and universities in New York cannot compete with,” she says.

Jennifer majored in psychology and minored in business and liberal arts honors (BALA). She intends to pursue an advanced degree in social work. “Receiving this scholarship meant that I could give my all as a student and develop myself as a professional without worrying about the many costs that come with being a student.

“The community that is developed during our time at Queens College does not fade once we graduate—our ties to Queens College are forever,” Jennifer says. “Receiving these scholarships means that there are kind people who believe in my success, development, and future—and I thank all those who have faith in me.”

Jennifer encourages anyone who has the ability to donate to scholarship funds to do so and concludes, “I and many others owe a huge part of our success to all of those who donate and believe in us—and in what we will do for the world after we graduate.”
